The Nordic spruce species comes from PEFC certified Scandinavian forests. The Nordic spruce is a high quality variety, characterised by a light wood, a thin grain and a slow growth. Sawfalling quality, well integrated small knots appear in the board. This variety is well known for its very high durability over time. The Nordic spruce can be dried, steamed, or thermostabilized for an indoor or outdoor use.
Knot finds its origin in a branch. Healthy, sticky and starred knots do not compromise the durability of the cladding. Are not allowed jumped knots (assimilated to holes).
Surface cracks may appear on Nordic spruce cladding. These are narrow surface cracks oriented along the length of the board. They mainly appear during the drying process or in dry weather. They then, partially close again in wet or rainy weather.
Fluffy fibers may appear in the soft part of the wood board, it will be accentuated in wet weather.
For natural dried wood, resin exudations may appear if the work is exposed to heat. The problem can be avoided thanks to the artificial drying above 70°, the steaming and the thermostabilization of the Nordic spruce.
They are frequent and due to the exposure and to the architecture of the building. Two factors that may boost the resin upwards. (Except for EcoThermo products).
